Its smooth, silky texture makes it an ideal consistency for detailed sculpting. Beyond its excellent sculpting characteristics, Clayette is also a popular option for filling gaps, embedding registration keys in clay, building mold walls and supplementing mould making processes.Clayette will not oxidize and can be left out or heated and cooled repeatedly without any significant change in the product. Clayette will not melt when heated over 300°F. Clayette is similar to the original Klean Klay. This clay is sold in 900gm blocks. Traditional wood and metal clay tools are recommended for working with the clay. Clayette Hard is usually warmed to a temperature of 46°C to soften it. When it returns to room temperature. itSmoothing The ClayClay Rake tools are often used to initially smooth out the clay surface and make it uniform. Naptha, clear mineral spirits, or 99% isopropyl alcohol on the surface of the clay will help to attain a smooth surface. Citrus based solvents such as D-limonene can also be used but may cause inhibition when molding the clay using silicone rubber.Shelf LifeUnopened: stored at room temperature away from sunlight or sources of UV, it will have a shelf life of 2 years. The clay should still be useable after that time, but not provide the best results compared to when it is fresh.
